Bernadette Peters (born Bernadette Lazzara on February 28 1948) is an American actress singer and children's author who hails who hails from Ozone Park Queens New York . Bernadette Peters has over the last five decades appeared in television shows, films and solo concerts. She has received seven Tony Awards nominations, two that she took home along with eight Drama Desk Awards. She's won Grammy Awards for four of her Broadway cast albums. Peters was a performer as a youngster on stage and was then acted in teenage roles during the 1960s and the 1970s. Early performances, including roles in The Muppet Show The Carol Burnett Show and for other television shows and films were praised. Also, she was praised for the roles she played in movies like Silent Movie The Jerk Pennies from Heaven and Annie. In 1980, she began to return to Broadway and became one the top performers of that stage for the following three decades. The singer has released six solo albums as well as several singles along with cast albums. In addition, she frequently performs as a solo performer. Peters also continues to act in TV and films and has been recognized for her work with 3 Emmy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards winning once.
