Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a small community that lies on this part of the island of Montreal named the West Island. Many people who don't know this name believe"the" West Island extends westward from Montreal. Actually this is not the case. West Island includes everything westward of Montreal, including the town of Lachine. Amanda Brugel was born there however her stay there was short. Brugel grew-up in Courtice near Oshawa in Ontario. The first goal she had was to become a dancer, but an increase in her height meant she grew beyond the dancers she was with. The article she wrote about her experience revealed published by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall and wears heels. After I reached the point of outgrowing male dance partners, I quit. Former dancers often turn into acting and Brugel wasn't an exception. A drama teacher at her high school pushed Brugel in the direction she needed. It was her teacher who advised her to audition for the role of Anne for their school's annual production. The teacher who suggested she take on a part in the school's annual production. This resulted in an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program which she graduated with A Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. In the last 20 years her career has seen her in more than 60 shows and films. The most well-known role was that of Rita (shown here) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor on the show in Season 1 and only appeared in a few episodes.
